How to use the standard events generator for the Reddit Pixel
Reddit pixel standard events take a fixed set of metadata — and each event accepts only some of it. This generator shows only the fields Reddit lists for the event you pick, using its help pages Manual Conversion Events with the Reddit Pixel and About Event Metadata.
- Pick a standard event, or Custom with your own name.
- List the products. The tool totals value and itemCount for you, and keeps each product's id, quantity and itemPrice.
- Tick the Conversions API box only if your server sends the same event — that adds conversionId.
- Add match keys such as the customer's email, preferably in the init call.
- Copy the code, or switch to Check my code to audit what is live.

What to do next: install the Reddit Pixel events
The base code goes on every page and must run before any event line. Find your Pixel ID in Events Manager — it appears twice in the base code.
Plain HTML
- Add box 2 to your site's shared template, keeping the comment that says not to modify it.
- Paste box 1 on the confirmation page, or keep the click version next to the button.
WordPress and WooCommerce
- Use a site-wide header snippet for the base code, keeping Reddit's “DO NOT MODIFY” comment.
- On the order-received page, print Purchase with the order's items as products, the total as value, and the order number as conversionId if your server also reports it.
Reddit Pixel on Shopify
- On Shopify's new Thank you page, Reddit's Purchase needs a custom pixel (Settings › Customer events) or an app pixel — Additional scripts no longer run there.
- A custom pixel is JavaScript only: drop the
<script>tags and the PageVisit call, then send Purchase fromcheckout_completed:event.data.checkout.totalPrice.amountas value and each line item'svariant.skuas a product id.
Reddit Pixel in Google Tag Manager
- Replace
{{Pixel ID}}with your ID before saving: Tag Manager reads double curly braces as its own variables. - Base code tag on All Pages; one tag per event with box 1, sequenced after it.
If your site uses a Content Security Policy, allow Reddit's hosts — www.redditstatic.com for the script, plus alb.reddit.com, pixel-config.reddit.com and ads.reddit.com for its requests, or the browser blocks the pixel.
Common Reddit Pixel errors and fixes
Reddit pixel events with the wrong capitals
Names are PascalCase: Purchase, AddToCart, SignUp. purchase or Checkout are not Reddit events — the second one belongs in a Custom event.
Reddit pixel conversionId deduplication gone wrong
One ID shared by several conversions makes Reddit treat them as duplicates and drop the attribution. Give each conversion its own ID, send it from the pixel and the server for the same event type, within two days.
The same event set up twice
Reddit asks for one event per conversion with all the metadata in it. An extra PageVisit is the classic case: the base code already sends one.
Custom event names that clash
A custom name can't repeat a standard event, and it is case-sensitive: “Promotion Event” and “PromotionEvent” are two different events. Only the 20 most recent custom events show in Events Manager.
Value as text or no currency
value: '$19.99' should be 19.99. Without a valid currency, Reddit assumes your account currency.
Products without an id
Each product needs id — the variant SKU or GTIN from your catalog — for product and dynamic product ads. itemPrice must be positive.
Frequently asked questions
What are the Reddit Pixel standard events?
Reddit supports eight: PageVisit, ViewContent, Search, AddToCart, AddToWishlist, Purchase, Lead and SignUp. The base code registers PageVisit by itself. Anything else is sent as a Custom event with its own name.
What does Reddit Pixel purchase event code look like?
rdt('track', 'Purchase', { itemCount: 2, value: 19.99, currency: 'USD', products: [{ id: 'SKU123BLACK7', quantity: 1, itemPrice: 15.99 }] }); — add conversionId only if your server also sends the purchase through the Conversions API.
How do I install the Reddit Pixel?
Copy the base code from Events Manager, replace both {{Pixel ID}} placeholders with your Pixel ID, and add it to every page of your site. Then add rdt('track', …) lines where conversions happen — on the confirmation page or in a button’s click handler.
What is conversionId in the Reddit Pixel?
A unique ID that ties the browser event to the same event sent by the Conversions API, so Reddit counts it once. Use it only when you send both. The order number works for purchases; never reuse one ID for different conversions, or Reddit marks them as duplicates.
When should I use a Reddit Pixel custom event?
When none of the eight standard events fits — a quiz finished, a promotion claimed. Send rdt('track', 'Custom', { customEventName: 'Promotion Event' }). The name can be up to 64 characters, is case-sensitive, and must not repeat a standard event’s name.
How do I check that my Reddit Pixel events fire?
Use the Reddit Pixel Helper extension for Chrome (green means healthy, yellow a fixable issue, red broken) and Event Testing in Events Manager: enter your page URL, select Test, and a PageVisit should appear in the table. Reddit notes that third-party cookies must be allowed in the browser you test with.
