Frequently asked questions
Which ad platforms let me upload a customer list?
Google Ads (Customer Match), Meta (custom audiences from a customer list), TikTok, Microsoft Advertising, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snapchat, X and Reddit all accept customer lists. Each one has its own column names, formats and hashing rules — that is why there is a separate formatter for each platform here.
Do I need to hash my customer list before uploading it?
Usually not. Google Ads and Meta Ads Manager both hash emails, phones and names on your computer during the upload if you send plain text (Google, Meta). If you prefer to hash yourself, you must first normalize each value exactly the way the platform asks — otherwise the hashes will not match anyone. Each formatter can do both.
Why do ad platforms match fewer people than I upload?
A platform can only match people who have an account with it and whose details in your list are the same as theirs. Formatting mistakes make it worse: phones without a country code, spaces or capital letters in emails, or values hashed the wrong way upload without an error but match nobody. Run the Customer List Health Checker first to see these problems before you upload.
Is my customer data sent to this website?
No. Every tool reads and cleans your file inside your own browser. Emails, phone numbers and names never leave your computer and never reach our server: the tools have nothing to send them to.
Which audience list tool should I start with?
Start with the Customer List Health Checker. It scores your list and shows what will hurt the match rate. Then use the formatter for the platform you are uploading to — it fixes the problems and writes the exact columns that platform expects.
