Frequently asked questions

What is conversion tracking code?

It is a small piece of JavaScript on your website that tells an ad platform when a visitor does something valuable — buys, signs up or sends a lead form. The platform uses it to report conversions and to optimize your ads toward people likely to convert.

What is the difference between a pixel and a tag?

Mostly the name. Meta, TikTok, Snap and Reddit call their code a “pixel”, Google and Pinterest call it a “tag”, Microsoft calls it UET and LinkedIn calls it the Insight Tag. All of them are a base script plus event calls for the actions you want to count.

Which events should I track on my website?

Track the actions that mean money for your business: a purchase with its value and currency for online stores, or a lead or completed sign-up for service businesses. Add earlier steps (add to cart, begin checkout) when you have enough traffic for the platform to learn from them.

Do I still need pixel code if I use a Conversions API?

The platforms recommend using both: the browser code and the server events, sent with the same event ID so the platform can remove duplicates. The generators here output that shared event ID where the platform supports it.

Where do I paste the generated code?

Each generator gives install steps for plain HTML, WordPress, Shopify and Google Tag Manager. As a rule, the base code goes on every page and the event code runs when the action happens — for example on the order confirmation page.
