Frequently asked questions

What is a product feed?

A product feed is a file (or online source) that lists every product you want to advertise, one row per item, with fields such as ID, title, price, availability, link, image and GTIN. Shopping ads, catalog ads and product listings on Google, Meta, TikTok and Pinterest are all built from it.

Which product feed tool should I use first?

Start with the checker for the platform you advertise on most — for most stores that is the feed checker for Google Merchant Center. It finds missing fields, wrong formats and bad GTINs before Google does. Then use the builders to add custom labels, promotions or local inventory.

Can one product feed work for Google, Meta, TikTok and Pinterest?

Often a good part of it can, because the platforms share many field names, but each one has its own required fields, allowed values and limits. Check the same file with each platform’s checker to see what is missing for that platform.

What is the difference between a primary and a supplemental feed?

The primary feed (called a data source in Merchant Center) holds your full product data. A supplemental source only adds or overrides a few attributes — such as custom labels — for products that already exist, matched by product ID. It cannot add new products on its own.

Are my product files uploaded anywhere?

No. Feeds are read and checked in your browser, so you can safely check unreleased products, cost prices and supplier lists.
